How we look after your photos and your data

STAR STUDIO photographs and films weddings and delivers them in private online galleries. This page explains, in plain language, what information the website and the galleries keep, why, who helps us run them, and what you can ask us to do. Last updated 30 September 2026.

Who is responsible

STAR STUDIO, a wedding photo and video studio based in Sweden, is responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us about anything on this page through the contact options at the bottom.

Your gallery and your photos

  • We store the photos and films from your day, and anything you or your guests add, in secure cloud storage. Each gallery is private: it opens only with its own link, and optionally a passcode. Passcodes are stored only as a one-way hash.
  • A gallery holds the couple’s names, the date and place of the event, and the story or notes you choose to show. Your favourites, hidden photos, comments, messages and edit requests are saved so the studio can prepare your final delivery.
  • Guest links show only what the studio or the couple chose to share, and can be closed at any time. Downloads can be turned off for a gallery or a single link.
  • Galleries stay available until you ask us to remove them or the studio archives them. When a gallery is deleted, its photos, favourites, comments and face-search data are deleted with it. We may keep a separate backup of the original files for the time we agree with you.

Contact details and bookings

For a booking we keep the names, e-mail address, phone number, date, venue and the practical notes needed to plan the day. These are used only to deliver our work and talk to you about it. We never sell them or use them for advertising.

We send gallery e-mails (for example “your gallery is ready” or a download link) through our e-mail provider, and keep a short record that a message was sent, with the address partly masked. You can ask us to stop these e-mails at any time.

Some galleries let you find the photos you appear in by taking or choosing a selfie. This uses face recognition, so we explain it carefully:

  • Your selfie is analysed inside your own browser. The picture itself is never uploaded. Only a short list of numbers that describes the face (a “face descriptor”) is sent to find matching photos, and it is not stored.
  • To make searching possible, the studio prepares descriptors for the faces in the gallery’s photos. They are kept in our own database, only for that gallery, and are deleted together with the photo or the gallery.
  • The face-recognition software is loaded into your browser from a public code library (jsDelivr). Using face search is always your choice; the rest of the gallery works without it. Ask us and we will remove a gallery’s face data.

Gallery visits and activity

So the studio knows the gallery reached you, it records when a gallery was opened, how many times, and when photos were downloaded, plus a timeline of gallery actions (for example favourites or requests, labelled with who made them, such as “couple” or a guest link’s name). Your internet address may be used briefly to protect the site against abuse (rate limiting); it is not kept for tracking.

The public website has no advertising or tracking cookies and no third-party analytics.

Payments and printed albums

If you order a printed album, payment is handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number. We keep the order, the delivery name, address, e-mail and phone, and pass what is needed to our printing partner (Gelato) to produce and ship the album.

Wedding invitations

Invitation cards made with STAR STUDIO show the details the couple entered. If a card asks guests to reply, their name, number of guests, answer and message are shared with the couple and the studio.

Cookies and settings on your device

  • Your light or dark appearance and your language choice are remembered on your device.
  • A gallery you unlocked with a passcode stays unlocked on that device for a while.
  • The studio’s own sign-in uses a session cookie.

These are all needed for the site to work as you expect, so we do not ask for consent to them.

Who helps us

We use a small number of service providers, each only for its task:

  • Website hosting and our database (cloud hosting providers).
  • Cloud file storage for photos, films and backups.
  • Resend, to send gallery e-mails.
  • Stripe (payments) and Gelato (album printing), only for album orders.
  • jsDelivr, which serves the face-search software to your browser.
  • WhatsApp and Instagram, only when you choose to contact us there.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it (including a whole gallery or its face-search data), or to stop e-mails. We answer as soon as we can, and within one month. If you are not happy with how we handled your data, you can also contact the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
